FAQs About Dental Implant Recovery

Dental implants in Fleming Island are the most popular tooth replacement solution in modern times, and it’s easy to see why. They are the artificial counterparts of natural teeth in terms of appearance and functionality. People who are wearing dental implants say their biting force has been restored up to 100%.

The way they described implants was as if they’d grown new permanent teeth. However, since the process involves surgery, we’re sure you have questions about healing time and the recovery period. How long does it take to recover after dental implant placement

Dental Implants Recovery Guide

How Do I Care for My Dental Implants During the Healing Process?

The good news is that maintaining dental implants does not require special care. During the recovery period, you are expected to commit to practicing good oral hygiene. But, during the first 24-hours, you should not brush or floss your teeth.

You only need to rinse your mouth with a warm saline solution. After one day, you can go back to brushing and flossing. As for rinses, stick to saline solution for now and avoid peroxide and alcohol-based rinses.

What’s the Healing Process Like?

Tenderness, discomfort, and soreness are expected, but these uncomfortable sensations should subside in a couple of days. You can take OTC painkillers to ease the discomfort. If the pain increases in intensity as days go by, you should let your cosmetic dentist or oral surgeon know about it.

Swelling is also expected. To reduce the swelling, you may apply an ice pack over the side of your face where the implants are placed. If you develop a fever after 24 hours post-op, notify your dentist.
